Fringe 2026: where to find us

fringe 1 min read

August in Edinburgh means the city fills up, the pubs shuffle their furniture, and our usual Wednesday singalong at the Strathmore takes the month off. Don’t mourn it. We’re not sitting still. Both UkeHoot and our Brothers In Arms Uke-O-Ono are out gigging across the town throughout the festival. And every show is exactly what it says on the tin: free to get in, buckets out for tips on the way.

Here’s where to catch us. Turn up, sing along, heckle gently.

“Wednesday Week”: UkeHoot on the Fringe

A roomful of strummers, off the leash and onto a stage. Same songbook, same racket, now with a proper crowd.

Date Venue Time
Sat 8 Aug Saughton Park Bandstand 1:30pm
Sun 9 Aug Portobello Town Hall 1:00pm
Sat 29 Aug Big Beach Busk, Portobello TBC

“Instant Karma”: Uke-O-Ono at PBH Free Fringe

The louder, sillier cousin. Expect deeper cuts, unexpected instrumentation, and at least one song nobody will admit to choosing.

Date Venue Time
Sat 8 Aug Bowlers Rest, Leith 4:45pm
Mon 10 Aug Fingers Piano Bar 9:00pm
Thu 13 Aug Bowlers Rest, Leith 7:15pm
Mon 17 Aug Fingers Piano Bar 9:00pm
Thu 20 Aug Bowlers Rest, Leith 7:15pm
Sat 22 Aug Bowlers Rest, Leith 4:45pm
Mon 24 Aug Fingers Piano Bar 9:00pm
Thu 27 Aug Bowlers Rest, Leith 7:15pm
Sat 29 Aug Bowlers Rest, Leith 4:45pm

“Free Four”: the fine print

Everything here is free, so there’s no ticket to book. Rock up early if you want a seat, drop something in the bucket if you had a good time, and mind the neighbours on the way home.

Dates and venues can move at Fringe speed. Facebook gets the updates first, so give it a look the morning of a show before you set off. Regular Wednesday sessions at the Strathmore Bar resume in September, same as ever.

And if you really don’t understand, shuffle over to UkeHoot@YouTube to see clips from previous years.

See you in a sweaty back room somewhere.
