Edinburgh's weekly ukulele jam
A roomful of strummers, songbooks open, nobody in charge. Bring a uke or borrow one, grab a seat, have a hoot.
★ Wednesdays · 7:30pm · The Strathmore Bar (back room) ★
What we are
UkeHoot has been Edinburgh's weekly ukulele singalong since 2012. Pop, folk, a bit of rock’n’roll, and the odd novelty number nobody will own up to picking.
There’s no leader, no committee, no setlist handed down from on high. People turn up, someone kicks off a song, everyone piles in. That’s the entire agenda, and somehow it has outlasted a fistful of venues, a pandemic, and more Edinburgh festivals than we can count.
Where & when
We play every wednesdays from 7:30pm.
The Strathmore Bar, 17 Iona Street, Edinburgh EH6 8SG. Find us on the map →
We're in the back room. If you're standing in the bar wondering where the ukuleles are, you're nearly there. Head straight through, follow the strumming.
Festival season is Edinburgh's silly season and it can shuffle us about, and we're starting to pop up at a few spots beyond the city too. Check Facebook for where to be that week before you set off.
Catch us live
Once a month we plug in and play out.
Third Saturday of the month, we take over Captain's Bar from 8:30pm til the strings give out. Find the bar →
Come watch, sing along, heckle gently.
How to join
Nothing to sign, no fee, no audition. Just turn up. To get in the loop:

Venue changes, one-off gigs, festival chaos: it lands on Facebook first, so that's the one to follow. WhatsApp is for the regulars.
